Maria José Ponte was born in the city of Vigo in Galicia, Northern Spain in 1958. Despite having been born in the late 1950’s and having lived in England and Scotland for the past 40 years, to this very day, Maria José mysteriously remains to be just 21 years of age, currently residing in the Highland hamlet of Strathlunach, Aberdeenshire .
Artistic flare is a trait which runs strong in the blood, with many immediate family members pursuing successful careers in various creative sectors.
Maria José works with oil paints as her medium of choice. The mainstay of her work comprises of portraits – of both people and animals – in addition to capturing the rugged charms of the beautiful Scottish countryside. Maria José has also been commissioned to create many still life paintings.
